Great message Daniel, I feel the same. I would love to travel to the land of my ancestors and feel of their spirits. I want to see the land where they lived and I would like to find the living family. I would like to find the ranches that my grandfather owned. I would like to find pictures of family members long gone. I have always wanted to see what they looked like. I just would like to know them better.

Funny you mentioned they wouldn't lose their compiled last names over the generations, my grandfather always told me for us Spaniards our last name is our IDENTITY, it shows where we come from and who we belong to. He is a very proud of his "blood".-Me too :) -Daniel

Do you have any Renteria families ending up in Jalpa, Zacatecas? The farthest I can go back is with my great grandfather Pedro Renteria born ~ 1859 married to Mariana Romero.

You should definitely do it! I took a 15 year break from my investigations
into my ancestry and made a significant jump this past week. The conference in
Valle de Guadalupe was great, but I got so much more excitement actually doing
the investigative work. I went to the ranches I had never been to before and
was able to find them with the help of my grandparents and it was majestic.
It’s the rainy season there so it’s lush green. I was able to get pictures
of two more of my great grandparents on this trip and I was so surprised to
see their features in my aunts and uncles. Its very exciting and very much
worth the time. I'm ready to go back and continue! Time flies when you're
having fun. Anyway, hope this inspires you in some way.

I haven't found any Renteria in Jalpa in my line. My family is (primarily) Reynoso from Juchipila and Moyahua, Zac.
It is assumed that the Renteria name stayed for a few generations as a second surname connected to Reynoso, but it was dropped in my family sometime between 1900 and 1905. I'm still not very clear on how my particular line is related to Renteria, although a theory exists (you can find it on NuestrosRanchos if you search for Reynoso-Renteria)
If I come accross any Renterias in Jalpa, I will let you know.

Thanks for your most inspiring message. I am happy that you were able to go to Mexico and visit family and the land of your ancestors. It means so much.
