Arturo,

About those batch numbers starting with "I":

Back in February, I printed out an entry in the IGI after searching for my grandfather's sister Angela Olague in Jerez and Tepetongo.

At the time, the IGI listed an Angela Olague born in Jerez around the time my great-aunt was born, but the parents listed for her were not the same as my grandfather's. I printed out the entry and filed it, thinking that when they got around to listing the film number, etc, I would send for it. The entry listed as Source Information only a batch number (I043209) and no Dates, or Source Call Number or Type or Sheet.

Now that I went back to check the IGI, that entry is no longer listed. It is just gone, disappeared, yet I have the hard copy of the entry that I printed out. I tried finding that Angela Olague again using the parents that had been listed for her (Agustin Olague and Ponciana Aguilar), and I also tried finding her by entering the baptismal date that had been listed in the IGI (11 MAY 1892). My great aunt Angela Olague was born (according to another source), on August 2, 1893, and her parents supposedly were Pedro Olague and Rafaela Tinagero the same as for her brother Francisco Olague (I found him in the Tepetongo film for September 1872 with his parents listed as Pedro Olague and Rafaela Felix. (The Tinajeros oftened used the surname Felix). I can't find Angela anywhere and now not even the IGI lists any Angela Olague.

What are these Batch numbers that start with an "I", and why would that listing disappear from the IGI altogether?

Batch Numbers starting with "I"

The batch numbers beginning with "I" are indexes. If the entry dissappears, from the IGI, you might want to try the Vital Records Index, and see if it is there.

Elmilie,

It's there under IGI I043209 (the letter I not the number 1). When I used
only the surname of Olague, "no record," so I tried using only the first
name of Angela, and the record for Angela Olague came up. Pat

I just realized why the record didn't come up when I used only the surname.
I was using the letter "g," in Olague, when it's a "q"... Olaque. Pat

You are right, Pat. I just looked at the page I printed out in February and it is a "q" and not a "g". Thanks. Maybe now I will find other ancestors whose name was transcribed as Olaque with a "q". Emilie

Pat,

How did you do it? Did you just complete the search fields on the search page like I did and got nothing, or is there another way to do it?

Batch Numbers Starting with "I"

This is what I did:

Access familysearch.org click on search -->click on IGI --->type in batch #,
region and last name only --> click on search.

When nothing came up, I then typed in the first name only, no surname, but
still used the batch # and region. That's how I found it.
Apparently "g' and "q" are being used when indexing the surname into the
LDS FHC files causing the spelling variation of that surname.

IGI Batch Numbers

There is a web page that explains all of the IGI batch numbering and there is no "I" on that listing... strange. I remember reading somewhere (perhaps on Nuestros Ranchos) that batch numbers that begin with "I" are batch numbers that are still being entered...

http://www.rawlins.cnchost.com/igi.html

I wish I could be of more help, but I am not really sure what could have happened to your record. Did it list a place of baptism from where you could order a film?

Re: Batch Numbers Starting with "I"

The Batch numbers that begin with the letter "I", are indexes. I am not sure as to the status of these indexes. But usually, based upon the dates, you can figure out, what film goes, with those Batch Numbers.

IGI Batch Numbers

Yes, it listed as the place of baptism "Inmaculada, Jerez De Garcia Salinas, Zacatecas". I have a film on permanent loan for that time period in Jerez, and there is no Angela Olague in that film.

Emilie,
You may want to send an e-mail or phone SLC FHC, ask them to verify the
film number for that batch. That way you can verify if it's the same film
that you have on permanent loan.
