As of 09/23/2006 the Nuestros Ranchos group has started a new policy.
The group is experiencing tremendous growth and that growth has forced
the policy change.

From now on to be a member of the group you must first send in a
genealogy report showing your connection to either Jalisco, Zacatecas,
and/or Aguascalientes. After I receive the report I will activate your
account.

If you are unsure about sending in your report I would suggest that you
read through the message archives and see if this group is right for you.

Sincerely,

Joseph Puentes - originating Moderator

ps: Those of you that were subscribed to the list before 09/23/2006 will
be allowed to stay with the same deadline of 01-31-2007 to get your
genealogy submitted. However I would very very much enjoy and be
appreciative it you would just go ahead and send me a report in either
"Word" or just in an email with your "representative" tree.

I'll need the following info from you:

1) your name and Username and subscription email address (please don't
email me from a different address and not identify yourself)\
2) The specific name of the file you are sending
3) The specific Ranchos in our target area of research that the file is
associated with

please don't forget that and please do try to get those to me soon, but
as I said you really do have until 01-31-2007

Change of Policy

If you are already a member of the group and have submitted your
representative genealogy file you are considered a life time member.
Nothing else will ever be required of you (certainly I would hope that
you would voluntarily update, research and edify your fellow members).

those that are members now but have not submitted their genealogies will
have until 1-31-2007 to submit them.

those that are not currently subscribed as members will need to submit
their genealogies or not have their memberships activated.

Accepted Formats and File Types

no, but a gedcom would be above and beyond.

you can send in your genealogy as a "genealogy report" in either Word in
.doc or .rtf format (the popular genealogy programs let you make up
reports in .rtf)

or you can just put your info into an email. There is nothing written in
stone and I'm not wanting people to feel like they have to "donate" 30
years worth of research. A simple email with a few paragraphs listing
two or three geneations (if available) along with the dates/locations
would suffice.

We're just trying to keep the group free of the people that are
unwilling to do their own research. For those people Rootsweb is a great
option. I certainly can see that You'll fit in very well in Nuestros
Ranchos as your passion will drive you to search out your roots.
