I have a civil marriage record from Distrito Federal, Mexico dated 07 Jan 1917 and I am unable to translate two statements. “En la casa no 94 de la oclava del Reloj el Sr Pbro D.J. Guadalupe Chavez, V.P. asistio a siete de enero de mil novecientos diecisiete al matrimonio que in extremis (or fue in extremis) contrajeron Juan Breña y Ma Gonzalez fueron testigos Francisco y Ana Breña “

I am having trouble finding "oclave del Reloj" on any map. Does anyone have a historical map of DF. Quite possible this was located behind la Cathedral in front of Teatro Alarcon (or so I was told).

Also what does que in extremis or fue in extremis means.

And while on the subject of maps, I am looking for Callejon del Indio Triste No 59, Zacatecas, Zac, Mx which was the residence of my uncle, Marcelo Gonzalez.

Hey Anna I think it is misspelled I think it is "en la Octava del Reloj", I
have seen it before, they used to refer at the time like that back then, it
means "At the Eight on the Clock" (8:00 O'Clock) and in extremis is a latin
phrase , that means "in the furthest reaches" or "at the point of death",
generally referring to grave or exceptional circumstances.
Probably this weeding was in the partcipant's house and under extreme
circumstances maybe one of them or maybe both were very ill and the priest
had to celebrate the ceremony at the address..
Regarding the Callejon del indio address I have no idea I'll see what I can
find and let you know..

La calle del Reloj (también escrita Relox), corresponde a una parte de la actual calle de República Argentina. Sin embargo, los tramos no coinciden exactamente porque la división que tenían en su origen es un tanto compleja.
Si tú me autorizas, te puedo enviar por partes un ensayo histórico acerca de esa parte de la ciudad de México escrito en la década de los veinte, cuando era muy reciente el cambio de la nomenclatura.

Yes I concour with Victor, they might be talking about "La Calle del Reloj"
as weel. That is , as Victor quotes, a part in the currently called
"Republica Argentina" Street, by the position in the phrase is not very
clear if they are still reffering to the location or the time, I think you
should send a copy of the "Acta" to the group maybe we can make that clear
just by reading it..
