  • Help with surname, trying to break a wall
By Steve G. Apodaca | Wed, 2012-08-08 19:28

Hello everyone. I've had a brickwall on my direct paternal line for years and I'm looking all over the place for clues. Anyway, I would like your opinion on the interpretation of a surname that I'm not 100% sure. This might give me an additional clue. Here are the links:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18710-8206-27?cc=1874591&wc=…
(second page on top)

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18696-10296-19?cc=1874591&wc…
(the second certificate)

These are the links to my 4th great grandparents Domingo Apodaca and Gertrudis Bonal. The father of Domingo is listed on both documents as Jose Maria Apodaca. The mother is Juana de _____ on one and Paula de _____ on the other one. It is this woman's surname the one that I'm trying to figure out. I have an interpretation, but I haven't seen similar surnames around the area. Any suggestions on what the surname is and where can I find families with this name? Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any siblings of Domingo so that i can compare names, and the baptisms of Domingo's children do not mention the grandparents.

Thanks.

Help with surname, de Albiaso

I think it says "de Albiaso". On Familysearch I found some people listed with that surname (also spelled Albiazo) in Totatiche, Jalisco in the 1820's and 1830's, Guadalajara in the 1740's and Bolaños, Jalisco in the 1810's.

Best regards,
Victoriano Navarro
