Just curious, but does anyone know if there's any Mexican Inquisition documents online on Familysearch.com, or elsewhere that we can look at?

Mexican inquisition documents on Familysearch?

Chris,

You can usually find numerous inquisition documents on PARES, I had an aunt by the name of María Méndez de Torres who was accused of witchcraft in 1672 in Zamora, Michoacán. Her inquisition documents that mention her brother as a witness and her parents and grandparents and great grandparents. She was declared "limpa de toda mala raza, judío, árabe, etc y es conocido que es de bueno liñaje y de buenos padres nobles y distinguidos entre el pueblo de Çamora. It was interesting to note that someone would actually accuse her of this, since it was well known the position they had in the cabildo and amongst society as one of the principal families of Zamora in the XVI century in the Obispado de Michoacán. One of her great grand nephews would later become the 1st or 2nd governor of Michoacán in the recent-declared republic in 1823, Telésforo Méndez de Torres.

I hope PARES will prove to be a resourceful tool for, there exist so many archives that are vital for our research, learn how to access them and study all you can, you´ll be surprised what you´ll find!

I'm glad to see someone has success in navigating on PARES. I've tried doing
simple searches and can never get anywhere on it. I just gave up since there are
no instructions on how to use. Very frustrating.

Ann,
I've had the same experience with Pares, so have left exploration of it to
a future date. But if someone know of a tutorial on it, please share! It
would be much appreciated.

Raquel,
That is an excellent idea. I've also had limited success in using Pares
hopefully someone in the group will be able to guide us.

I have an old old book that has inquisitors parents names and sometimes their grandparents. Only in Mexico and only the 1600s and 1700s

What is the exact name of the book and the exact name of the author? Do you
happen to have the ISBN for the book as well?
