Marriage and baptism records clearly show that Teresa Caldera (1697-1731) was the daughter of Nicolas Caldera and Leonor Rodarte (daughter of Mateo Rodarte and Leonor de los Reyes). However, I am a bit confused with respect to Teresa Caldera's husband, Antonio Rodarte.

I have viewed the marriage record of Antonio and Teresa dated Oct 1723. While it states clearly that Antonio is the son of Juan Rodarte, the mothers name is difficult to read, but appears to be Ysabel. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15088-8854-31?cc=1410092&wc=…

I have also located records showing that Antonio remarried following the death of Teresa. The Informacion Matrimonial completed in 1736 clearly states he is the son of Juan Rodarte and Ysabel de Avila. Included is documentation of Teresa's death confirming his eligibility to remarry and leaving no doubt as to his identity.
The document can be viewed here: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15272-48199-8?cc=1410092&wc=…

While I can show that Juan is the legitimate son of Mateo Rodarte and Leonor de los Reyes, I have not personally seen any conclusive documentation showing that Leonor is the daughter of Mateo Rodarte and Leonor de los Reyes. My only source has been research performed by others with no clear citations. The relationships are shown here: http://jerezzacatecas-salvador.blogspot.com/2009/02/descendientes-de-ma…

Based on this, Antonio and Teresa would have been first cousins since Juan Rodarte and Leonor are brother and sister. While Antonio and Teresa could legally marry, it is my understanding that such a union would require dispensation from the church.

Just wondering if anyone can help me clarify the relationships.

Rodarte/Caldera

I looked at the marriage record for Antonio Rodarte and Theresa Caldera, his Mothers name is listed as Ysavel Davila both deceased
It also lists Theresa Si Caldera's parents as Juan Caldera deceased and Faviana Damiana as her Mother. There is a Juan Rodarte married to a Fabiana Damiana Ruiz Gutierrez who appear to be Theresa's parents. I like you have her parents listed in my records as Nicolas Caldera and Leonor Rodarte. If this is true then Nicolas and Leonor are not her parents and that would explain no dispensation. I noticed most Si are actually Sid and there are many Cid Caldera.

You also said you found a marriage information record for 1736.. I could not find it.

Thanks for your input Linda. With respect to the 1736 Informacion Matrimonial, I double checked the link I provided and it took me straight to it, but here it is again.

What's also interesting is that although Teresa was legally married to Antonio (per the record we both viewed), the death record for Teresa states she is the "mujer" of Antonio Rodarte rather than the more common "casado" I see in other records for the period. The reord can be seen here: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15068-61637-17?cc=1410092&wc…

I also found a death record for a Juan Rodarte (widow) that appears to state his parents are Juan and Ygnacia Rodarte. I think they meant Ysabel.

And a record for Leonor Rodarte (doncella pobre - poor maiden?) Still trying to understand who her parents were.

Marriage Antonio Rodarte and

i'm noy sure if those two are first cousins or not, but my ancestors narsisco diaz romero and his wife petra quezada were second cousins but i found no dispensations for them. so what my guess is that if that couple is realted by blood, for some reason, a dispensation was either not made, got lost through the 'sands of time' , hasn't been uploaded to familysearch. or if it is on familysearch, the documents containing that record hasn't been indexed yet by guadalajara dispensas.
