Hello,
My name is Tina Eley and new to the group. I have been doing family research for a few years but now since retirement am able to devote more time to it. I have found so much information on my family that it is difficult to comprehend how large the family was.
The names I am currently researching are Hernandez or es, Chaves, Murillo, Arias, De La Torre. This would be my Mothers side of the family.

I do read some spanish but this has forced me to study it a little be more. The writing on the baptism and marriage records is so difficult to read and then there are so many abreviations.

I am currently looking for Pedro hernandes Gonzales Baptism record which I can not find on family search. It must be there but several of us have tried finding with no luch. It would be in Tepatitlan De Morelos, Jalisco, Mexico. His father was Andres h
Hernandes and mother Floretina Gonzales. My genealogy report is in the following folder.

I look forward to working with the group
Tina

Introduction

Hello Tina,

Your post was never mailed out so only people that visit this thread at http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/es/node/21546 will see the post.

There are a lot of records lost or damaged long before they started to microfilm the records so that might be why you can't find the baptism you are looking for.

Your ancestor Teresa Infante Moreno is very likely related to the Díaz-Infante family and to the Moreno de Ortega family.

The godparents of her daughter Luisa de Yepes were Bartolomé Díaz-Infante González-Soriano and María Ana de Anda Altamirano y Moreno de Ortega married 8 Jan 1708 in Lagos de Moreno.

An uncle of Bartolomé was Diego Díaz Infante Espinosa married to Teresa Moreno de Ortega Villegas 24 Nov 1651 in Lagos de Moreno.

Since Manuel Yepes and Teresa Infante Moreno had their first recorded child baptized on 24 Jan 1715 they were married the beginning in 1714 or prior to that. You should search the volumes of Información Matrimonial to see if they had a matrimonial investigation recorded in Lagos in the beginning in 1714 or prior to that.

Also if you look at the godparents of all of the Diaz Infante children and their marriages between 1680 and 1750 you might find a clue. Also the testigos in the Información Matrimonial records might also give you some clues. Other clues to look for are the ranches they were said to have been born in. The children of Teresa Infante Moreno were born in Mariquita, Salsipuedes (belonged to the Moreno de Ortega family) and Portezuelo.

Regards,
Armando

Since the index record at https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NV5Y-3WY states that the baptismal record exists in film 218462 it has to be in the volume named Bautismos de hijos legítimos 1857-1860. There is no doubt it will be there. You need to go page by page. The dates are sometimes out of order.

That is what I thought. I will try again. Also, in the informaciones de matrimonios, are they filled out on the same day as the marriage or prior to the marriage. This is an area I have not attempted to dive into yet but need to now.

Again, thanks so much Armando

The información matrimonial records are usually completed about a month to a week prior to the marriage. Sometimes they exist when marriage records don't exist. Also at times marriage records contain ages of the bride and groom, the names of the parents, and three witnesses. At times information about a witness can be a clue.
