Hello,
Can anyone provide assistance in transcribing a marriage record? It is a marriage parish record from the 1700's in Valle de Rosario, Chihuahua Mexico. I can figure out part of this record but there is a section with writing that I can't figure out. I need to see whether the groom Thomas de Ochoa has another surname or identifier written in the area of the parish record that is a little faded out. It looks like the word 'Espanol" but I can't be sure. One of the witnesses "Joseph" might share the Ochoa surname but I just can't tell.

En ______ (ma)yo de mil setecientos y veinte años, el licenciado ______ cura _____ Juez Eclesiástico de esta villa, case y vele in facie (ecclesiae) por palabras de presente y de su mutuo consentimiento habiendo precedido las tres amonestaciones y de mas diligencias que ordena y manda el santo concilio a Thomas de Ochoa, español ____ (con) (Jua)na Maria Verdugo, española vecina de este real, estando presentes, el ___ don Joseph Subiate y don Joseph de la Campa y ____ don Alonso Montaño y otros muchos presentes y para que conste (lo firme) Ut Supra

Thanks, I really appreciate your help - I'm also looking at these other names to see if I can find any other family links by looking at military musters. I've found de la Campa and Montano in military musters.

If matrimonial investigations exist for this parish in this time period, it will have information not in the marriage record. In some parishes many of the early matrimonial investigations are missing, and they are often not in chronological order. For a marriage without complications, that is no dispensation, they are often 4-6 weeks prior to the marriage.

In 1719 in chihuahua theres a marriage for a Joseph de la Campa and Josepha de Subiate. The Joseph de la Campa is probably the same one as on your record. He's also probably the brother in law to the Joseph de Subiate on your record, who im guessing is the brother of the bride Josepha de Subiate.
