  • What is Old Spanish Word for Census around 1810?
By MADERA_32 | Sat, 2011-04-02 19:23

When I was scrolling through archives at the LDS History Center years ago, I came across a Census of ever rancho in our pueblo of Jalisco during the year 1810. It listed all the names of every person living in each rancho. I made copies, but now I don't have the copies.

I can't remember the old word for census that it was under. I want to go back and make some more copies of them.

have a look at the files area for misc information in the reference
sections. There is a few photocopies specific to Jalisco, Zacatecas y/o
Aguascalientes padrones from Lyman Platt's excellent book:

What is Old Spanish Word for

Are you referring to Xalisco, Nayarit? If so, I have the 1689 census/padron.

When you do come across it, perhaps you could add it to our reference
files? It sounds like a valuable resource.

Antonio,

Padron! That's it! Thank you guys!. As soon as I go back, order the microfilm and scroll through them and make copies of the census listing names of every single person at each rancho in our pueblo, I will post them up here.

When I had the copies, I was looking at the Rancho where my Great Great Grandfather was at.
