Dear Group,
Since there appears to be members with the surname of de Alba, I thought I'd pose the question again.
Has anyone seen these surnames used interchangably in their research? Or are they distinctly different?
Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated.   Thank you, Alice

Does anyone know if the surname de Ysalba or de Esalba is a variation of de Alba?
I've got marriage entries for Maria de Ysalba with Joseph Feliz de Arrambide 02/20/1724 and 03/19/1720 in Mexico, DF.  Yet I can't find any de Ysalba's anywhere.  Both entries from two different churches in DF couldn't be wrong?   Your help would be greatly appreciated.    Alice Blake

I found a variation of Maria de *Yslaba* vs. Ysalba. Also Joseph Feliz de *
Arravide* aka *Arravide married to Maria de Yslaba with the marriage date
of 20 Feb 1724*. These two children are listed: Maria Josepha Eusebia
Arravide Yslaba b. 5 Nov 1722, ch. 15 Nov 1722, Asuncion, Sagrario
Metropolitano, Centro, Mexico, Distrito Federal,, C04128-5, Mexico-EASy
35179; and Polonia Josepha Ygnacia de Arranvide de Yslaba, b. 8 Feb. 1725,
ch. 16 Feb 1725, C61959-4, Mex.-VR 35180

Hi Esther,
Thanks so much for looking them up.  I do have that information, including a marriage for Joseph Feliz de Arranbide with Maria de Esalba on 03/19/1720 in Mexico, DF.  Unfortunately, the Mexico, DF online records don't go that far back for a quick check.
What is your opinion: is de Esalba or Ysalba a variation of de Alba?  The reason I ask, is there appears to be next to no one with the first variation of the name.  I'd love to know if any members with the de Alba surname have run across de Esalba or Ysalba in  their research. Again, let me know what you think and thanks again for your consideration.
Alice

The records for D.F. do go that far back. The one that contains the record
you mentioned is film 206000 located at
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-11157-14045-90?cc=1615259&wc…

Armando,
My inexperience is definitely showing.  Incredible!   This will teach me not to rely so much on the labeling.  Never would I have thought that a 1720 document would be found under 1886-1933!  I found the marriage entry, then I discover that the bride's name was mistranscribed.  She was indexed as Maria de Esalba, when the original text clearly states de Eslaba.  Unfortunately it didn't name parents, but now I will search the informacion matrimonial and hope for the best.  Thank you so much for your help; I wouldn't have done this without it.
Sincerely,  Alice
