  • Help with a surname
By Steve G. Apodaca | Thu, 2012-10-25 19:12

Hello to everyone. Can anybody take a minute and check this record? I'm unsure on what a surname is:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18697-41774-98?cc=1874591&wc…

The record I'm looking at is the second from the last, the baptism of Aniceta Gertrudis Bonal. What I'm trying to figure out is the surname of the godmother, Maria Anna (?). I'm just assuming that the godfather Silvestre Gutierrez is related to Gertrudis's mother, Ysabel Gutierrez. Knowing the godmother's surname might help me find additional information about my Gutierrez line.

Thanks in advance,

Steve in NC.

Help with a surname

Hi Steve,
Your record is on Image 49. If you go to the last record on Image 77 you will see them baptizing their daughter. The surname is more legible there and it seems to be Lambaren.

Help with a surname

Thanks so much! Lambaren makes sense, though I've never heard this surname before. I have a good feeling about researching this family Gutierrez Lambaren. If I confirm that Silvestre Gutierrez is related to my GGGmother Ysabel Gutierrez, that will help me add an aditional generation to my paternal family tree. By the way, I noticed the names of the godparents in the new baptism record you showed me on page 77. Antonio de Frias and Juana de Castro sound so awfully familiar on my mom's maternal line. I haven't been focused on these lines for a while, but I do have Frias and Castros in Zacoalco. It's so amazing to think how many of my ancestors from different lines interacted with each other in the past, unaware that a couple centuries later, their common ggggrandson would be looking for them.
