David,

Romo de Vivar is a compound surname. The patriarch of this family was Diego Romo de Vivar born 12 March 1589 in Rielves, Toledo, Castilla-La Mancha. He married María Rangel Peguero in somewhere in Mexico and they settled down in Aguascalientes and their descendants spread to different parts of Jalisco including Lagos de Moreno. Many of us, including myself multiple times, descend from Diego Romo de Vivar.

El Cid Campeador, named Rodrigo Díaz, was supposedly born in Vivar, Burgos, España and it is why he is called Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar. http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodrigo_D%C3%ADaz_de_Vivar#Nacimiento

We have yet to learn of where the Romo de Vivar surname originates but it is very likely Diego Romo de Vivar had an ancestor that was from Vivar, Burgos. I doubt that there is any relation to El Cid Campeador.

I have not been able to find the paternal grandparents of Isabel Romo de Vivar but there is a dispensa for her parents - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18413-9191-35?cc=1874591&wc=…

Vivar is not an abbreviated surname.
In Mexico there's a TV character named el Señor Barriga, played by Edgar Vivar.
And el Cid's name was Rodrigo Diaz de Vibar.
Best,
Victoriano Navarro
