  • Where were Esclavos Sold in Nueva Galicia and are there any archives?
By MADERA_32 | Fri, 2018-05-25 18:46

I am curious if anyone knows where esclavos were sold in the Nueva Galicia area such as Zacatecas, Jalisco, Aguasclientes.

Are there any archives to view on those. I had seen the archive of Aguascalientes that has an interesting sub-archive on the "Venta de Esclavos" that is in detail with names, description, who bought them, etc.

Saludos

Marcelina

Slaves

There are documents concerning slaves, such as documents about sale, in the Aguascalientes government archives.

Several years ago there was discussion of the Aguascalientes archives here at NR, for example

The login for the Aguascalientes archives is at

Please see the previous postings of Miguel Beltran Romo of March 2, 2011, and my post of "AHEA: Wildcard searches" on March 16th on how do do a search.

Where were Esclavos Sold in

29 years ago I found a bill of sale to one of my wife’s ancestors with the surname Casillas. The sale was made in Jalisco.
