Thank you so much for the information, my Juan Jose Acevedo was married to Manuela de la Vega; since the only records are their sons marriages, I think they must have married between 1750 and 1773, as their first son was born in 1773. His name was Jose Torribio. I appreciate your information is Tlatenango close to Tepetongo?
There could still possibly be a connection don't you think?

Thank you
Aida

Attached is an Excel file which shows the ancestro of Maria Luisa de Acevedo y Alarcon, my ancestor, the sister of Juan Jose de Acevedo.

Regards,

Hector

Hi Aida,

Yes, of course, Aida, I think your Juan Jose married to Manuela de la Vega
may very well be connected to the other Juan Jose married to Juana Maria
Villegas. Unfortunately there are very few christening records for Jerez and
Tepetongo before 1750.

I haven't been to Tlaltenango, but I think it's not too far from Tepetongo
and Jerez.

Regards,
Hector

Tepetongo and Tlaltenango are definitely near each other. Traveling north from Guadalajara though the Tlaltenango Valley, you pass El Teul, then Tepechitlan, then Tlaltenango, then Colotlan and then Tepetongo.

Because Colotlan was ruled mostly as a military/autonomous region for most of its colonial history, the surrounding areas that were not were very much integrated. There are many documents that refer to a "Jurisdiccion de Jerez y Tlaltenango" meaning that the two areas were basically administered jointly.

Furthermore reading old Tlaltenango marriage records, there are many many marriages between Jerez and Tlaltenango families, especially among the espanoles given that in those early years there were so few of them and thus their either intermarried with indigenous or more often blacks or brought wives from a nearby town with other whites.
