I think it is an awesome endeavor to pursuit non-profit status. The
benefits sound very positive and a definite supportive aid for members
interested in writing and publishing their genealogies and to provide funds
for those traveling to conferences, etc.
Nuestros Ranchos has always been more than a forum for me. It has been more
of a club and taking it to the next level, by obtaining non-profit status,
develops a base for its financial support, so that it may operate more
effectively and achieve goals.
I have gained much by being a member of Nuestros Ranchos and I would be
very, very happy to either act as a representative for California or as a
board member.

Committee to Formally Organize Nuestros Ranchos
Anybody who is interested in being part of the committee to help make Nuestros Ranchos into a formal organization, please sign up for the new "Association" mailing list on the site. Simply log on to the site and click on "Mailing Lists" from the right hand menu.
Our first task will be to draw up bylaws for the Association so any ideas as to how officers are elected and any suggestions for the language regarding the purpose of the Association would be greatly appreciated.
