Hi,

I'm researching Castañeda, Sanchez and Galvan. My maternal family comes
from (mostly) Jerez, Zac., I've seen references for El Tesorero, Los
Cuervos and La Lagrima; I'm not sure, but I'm guessing these are
ranchitos in the area.

At this time I'm mainly interested in my great-grandparents Vida
Castañeda, born about 1882, and Bartolo Sanchez, born about 1864. I have
found baptismal certificates from La Inmaculada for two of Vita's
brothers, Apolinario Castañeda and Gregorio Castañeda, but not for her.

I'm also interested in my 2x great-grandparents, Gregorio Castañeda and
Ysabel Galvan. Gregorio was baptized at El Sagrario in Zacatecas, Zac. in
1859. (His parents were Juan Castañeda and Jesus Segovia.) I learned from
a baptismal certificate that Gregorio Castañeda was first married to a
Nasaria Rosales, and they had at least one son: Marin Castañeda, in 1881.
I do not know what happened to Nasaria Rosales.

My great-grandparents, Vita Castañeda and Bartolo Sanchez, were married
probably around 1900 since their first child, Antonia, was born in 1901,
I'm guessing they married in Jerez, Zac. Bartolo Sanchez died sometime
between the birth of their last daughter in 1916 and the 1920 census (El
Paso, TX), since my great-grandmother had remarried by then, to Antonio
Galvan (he may be related to Vita's mother), also from Jerez, Zac. I
cannot find any other info on Bartolo Sanchez after his arrival in the US
(at El Paso, TX) in 1914 with the rest of the family, including his sister
Sacramenta Sanchez.

I have plenty of history (with a few gaps) on my great-grandmother and her
children from their birth on. Vita Castañeda Sanchez Galvan died 18 Aug
1974 in Santa Rosa, CA. Interestingly enough, I grew up believing my
great-grandmother had been born in 1870 and was thus 104 when she died (I
was about 10). However, my research shows US arrival cards indicating her
birth year to be about 1882/3. I have no idea what happened to make her
later change the birth year.

I do not know the fate of my great-grandmother's siblings or father. Her
mother, according to my grandmother, died in El Paso, TX when my
grandmother was young (before 1920 census). My grandmother never
mentioned her father or aunts and uncles. My grandmother, Lupe Sanchez,
moved to San Francisco, CA in 1937 (and the rest of the family followed
within the next 10 years) and then retired in Santa Rosa, CA. She died 28
Aug 2003 at the age of 90.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
